Does rap encourage violence?

Does rap music encourage violence?  Honestly I don't know.  I listen to rap all the time, but I am also very violent.  Since most rap songs are made by gangsters who are violent, it draws people to the conclusion that rap encourages violent actions.  While rap has a lot of empty, meaningless, violent tones, not all is bad.  Some are about doing bad things, while others are about love, living, and the truth about making it through living in the hood.  Not every thing in rap is about killing cops, bloods, and crips.  So, the bulk of what I am saying is that rap can be bad, but it is how you personally interpret it.
